LUCID MOTORS

Senior Director of Global Retail Real Estate Development, 2018–2022
My team was responsible for launching the first luxury EV brand in North America, Europe and the Middle East. I created Lucid’s Retail Development group with day to day activities including overall product launch strategy, Board of Directors presentations, global expansion planning, all real estate activities and pro-forma profit estimating.

  • Establish and maintain annual Capex/Opex budgets over $80M

  • Managed a team of 35 strategy, analytics, real estate, design and construction professionals

  • Establish sales + profit targets for each country, region and individual location

  • Establish staffing plans for each location

  • Build internal and external teams both locally and internationally, including a European HQ in Amsterdam

  • Completed 30 Studios and Service Centers in the US, Canada, Europe and Saudi Arabia

Special Projects, 2017–2018
Evan Spiegel brought me into his special projects team to work on the relocation of 1,800 local employees from 30 buildings scattered throughout Venice into a single campus at the Santa Monica airport. 

SAMSUNG

Vice President and General Manager of Retail Development, 2013–2016
Hired by the CEO with a singular mission - to unify the brand’s physical and digital assets across all product lines. My first task was to broaden the available talent pool, adding more than 20 new agencies to support a team that grew from zero to 28 staff in the first year. This new team created and distributed all launch material for 10 hero products during my tenure, while setting a new global standard for experiential retail with a new type of flagship building ‘837 Washington’ in NYC. 

  • Final approval for all creative work in Digital Applications, Product Launch Graphics and Architecture

  • Managed annual budget over $60M

  • Author contracts and manage new vendor on-boarding process

  • Approved UX and UI for newly developed software applications

  • Create a strategy, prototypes, and roll out new merchandising for national retail chain stores

  • Manage print guidelines for each mobile product ad campaign in over 1,000 retail locations 

APPLE

Director of Retail Development, 2008–2013
As one of three Directors in charge of Apple’s European retail expansion program, I co-managed the team that developed the expansion strategy, located potential sites, prepared capital budgets, presented to Executive Team members, and managed staffing activities from concept through construction for over 100 built projects in the EU. 

  • Report EMEA project status to the Apple Executive team on a weekly basis Managed annual budget over $60M

  • Establish and manage capital expansion plan with Real Estate and Construction teams located in London 

  • Manage 7 US based staff, with a dotted line oversight for 32 London based staff 

  • Manage design, engineering and fabrication teams in the US and EU

  • Coordinate with EU development teams, providing construction deliverables and establishing timelines

  • Coordinate with corporate procurement team, providing quality assurance reviews for elements sourced by Apple

  • Assist with new vendor setup, visiting remote facilities, establishing qualitative criteria for Vendor’s work

  • Establishing business entities, and understanding construction law in new countries 

NOVARTIS PHARMACEUTICALS 

Director of Architecture, 2006–2008
Facilities Team responsibilities: Establish and maintain consistency on all facility upgrade projects throughout the campus’ existing 9 million sf of office, laboratory and warehouse spaces. 

  • Manage in-house Operations and Construction manager staff

  • Approve all architecture, interior design and site communications efforts

  • Maintain multi-million dollar art collection and manage $750,000 annual art procurement budget  

Campus Expansion Project responsibilities: Managed a four million sf project consisting of six new office buildings, a conference center, a childcare facility, site improvements including roadway and parking improvements estimated to cost $1.2B over 5 years. 

  • Managed Architect selection process with a Board of Directors Advisory Committee

  • Drafted RFP’s and authored contracts

  • Developed the overall project program

  • Established sustainability and LEED Goals

  • Established project budgets and schedules

Associate Architect, 2000–2006

  • Led and participated in building planning activities for the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Corcoran Gallery of Art, Beekman Tower, Brooklyn Arena, Brooklyn Atlantic Yards and other large projects

  • Led structural systems design, articulated façade design and specialty engineering efforts

  • Coordinated zoning and urban planning efforts with city and state officials
